Hey, I’m originally from England but I’ve lived in New Zealand for almost 10 years now. I’ve recently started learning Japanese, but I’d really like to be able to practise with someone to help build my confidence and improve my understanding of the spoken language (that’s the part I’m finding hardest). I’m still a near-beginner, learning hiragana at the moment along with some words, phrases, and short sentences. I’d also love to share my language and help others learn English. I like to keep fit, run a little, play golf, and I love movies, coffee, and food.

Hello I am a New Zealander who loves visiting Japan, but funding as I get further away from the main tourist areas I'm struggling with the language barriers. As I want to improve my Japanese, I would love to have an exchange with a Japanese speaker. I have three teenage children and they take up a large part of my spare time. I like cooking, listening to podcasts and taking walks in the local forests. Most of all, I enjoy travelling.

My mother tongue is Mandarin Chinese. I was born and raised in China, so I’m very familiar with the language and culture. I hold both an undergraduate and a master’s degree, and I’ve worked as a teacher in China. I also have a Chinese Teacher Qualification Certificate and experience teaching Mandarin to English speakers. I can teach patiently and skillfully, and I even know a bit of Chinese calligraphy.
